Why does the LADS Translation Project exist?

Prior to the release of Death and Rebirth, the English localization and translation in Love and Deepspace was filled with translation errors and localization problems. The translation errors were so severe that, at times, it changed character lore, erased or changed pivotal plot points, and even impacted characterization.

The LADS Translation Project set out to address these issues with translations that maintain very high fidelity to to meaning and culture, with an emphasis on direct translation, as opposed to localization.
